Shut Up Juice Challenge at Mean Pig BBQ

Mon, Nov 30, 2009

Arkansas, Sandwich

And we’re back, sorry about the delay in posting this challenge, with the holiday last week things got a little hectic. This challenge was featured on Man v. Food last week when Adam and crew headed down to Little Rock to give the “Shut Up Juice Challenge” a try. This challenge consists of a pulled pork sandwich covered in “Shut Up Juice” which is an extremely hot sauce slathered all over the meat. It looked quite delicious, but Adam’s face showed a different story.

I am one of many that has failed this horrific challenge. This Sandwich was by far the hottest thing I have ever tasted. Will NEVER try this again, and Dare you to try the challenge. The challenge has no time limit. The prize is a shirt, but should be a purple star or nobel prize or something instead of a shirt. And the rules are, you have to eat the whole sandwich, no getting up from the table, drink anything you want (milk/water/tea/coke/holy water/). After your done, keep the sandwich down for 5 minutes without throwing up. I laughed, so did Adam and we both threw up eventually. And I only had half of my sandwich.

I accomplished this challenge back in the summer of 07. This is hot but I think Adam (the host, no relation) was acting a little overboard.

If you choose to do this, be prepared this is HOT. Very hot. The most important advice I can give is coat your stomach first (milk or something creamy) and eat the thing as fast you can. I wasn’t able to coat my stomach before hand because I am lactose intolerant.

  3. Adam Says:

Oh I should mention, when I did it in 2007 I had to pay for the sandwich but the T-Shirt was free.

  4. Russ Says:

I went in this past Friday @ 5:30 and completed the challenge in 4 1/2 minutes. This was the hottest thing I have ever encountered anywhere. I will definitely NOT do this again!!

I had a friend pick this up for me as I live about two hours away. I ate the sandwich in about 3 minutes. It was the hottest thing I have ever eaten and I am a chili head. I was able to get it down and after about five minutes it quit burning. About an hour later I thought I was going to die from stomach pain. I think I should have coated my stomach first but I’m not sure even that would have helped. I didn’t do it at the restaraunt so I didn’t even get a t-shirt.

one rule: you have to keep it down for 5 mins after all is said and done. plus, you have to eat EVERYTHING, including the bun scraps.

When I tried this the sandwich was coated in so much sauce, you had to eat it with a fork. I watched Adam on man vs. food do this and noticied his was covered with about half of the amount of sauce. Not saying Adam had anything to do with it, but I think the owner cut back on it more then he would for a regular customer.

Our group of guys from Grace Family Church on the 16th….3 of us completed the challenge and hurt for the next day. Hurt more than I have ever hurt before in my life. Someone asked me if it was worth it and I said yeah as long as I dont have to do it again. It was fun and we have a story to tell but I regretted it after I completed it. I think the other guys did too.
